Doyle Profiled in Boston Herald

December 7, 2009 (PAP Newswire) -- Did you know that poker superstar Doyle Brunson almost played professional basketball as a Laker?

Did you know he’s one of an elite group of just five WSOP Main Event champions to have also won a World Poker Tour main event?

Well, if you’ve read the man’s just-released autobiography, then yeah, you probably do. But if you haven’t gotten around to it yet, you might want to check out a recent article at the Boston Herald — one of the United States' most widely read newspapers -- highlighting the Godfather of Poker’s life and many accomplishments.

Yes, the publicity push for this book has been extensive. And we’ve covered a lot of it here — not just because Doyle is one of those figures who gives poker, and online poker, a good name, and who can help legitimize the sport and get it fully legalized, but also because he's just an interesting man, who’s lived an interesting life. Far older than most of the other professional poker players with who he competes, Doyle has lately been getting more media attention than most of his rivals. Since that attention is of a much more positive tone than say, a certain poker "brat"'s antics, or the latest reality TV gossip, the overall impact for the poker world is a net positive, as well.
