The biggest poker site on the Internet plans to sponsor a thousand seats
Pokerstars has earmarked a massive $12,500,000 for sponsorship of a thousand seats at the 2008 World Series of Poker, the company announced this week.
For the next few months leading up to the big event, Pokerstars will be running a diversity of tournaments and qualifiers aimed at finding 1,000 top players who will each receive a sponsorship worth $12 500.
The full Main Event prize package includes:
● $2,500 expense money;
● Eight nights’ complimentary hotel accommodations at the nearby Palms;
● Hotel suite upgrades for Supernova and Supernova Elite VIP members.

I think this is great for conversions.
As a player, though, I would like tournaments offering more than one package as a prize. I would never play a huge tournament that gives one package to first place and nothing for the other players.

This is great! That is why you qualify rather than pay the buyin. Also with the added step tournaments to win your seat I personally think there is alot more value at Stars than anywhere else. If your players would rather not play a big tournament where only one entry gets the seat, then offer your players the step tournaments where they can recieve free entry to try again …

Didn’t know this. Has anyone seen a rise in conversions since the WSOP qulifers have been around? Took them off the site as they wasnt converting aswell as some other programs but i guess that may have been the wrong decision.
