Nishadha, I am not sure how the bulleted text can help but certainly the sub-headings and heading help in better search engine rankings.

Les, are you trying to say same thing again and again in the comments above :) or it was the "refresh" effect

John, Somehow I don't agree with your point here. Wordpress pings the search engines that's true but if the blog post is well optimized for search engines, it stays there for long er time in search engine result pages at top positions. I have been experiencing this for my another wordpress blog that has been ranking top at search engines for more than 6 months now

Hi John...I meant as far as the HTML behind the scenes goes. It is search engine friendly right out of the box. However, when a new theme is added, the SEO may or may not be retained. It wasn't really a question, I was just asking the authors opinion and curious why he didn't mention it. Seems he didn't want to respond.
I agree that your homepage is always changing so it may not be a great landing page from the search engines because it may not be the same one day from the next. The posts themselves are really just pages... I stand by the fact that Wordpress are great to use for affiliate sites....and besides...you can use Wordpress as a CMS and remove all of the bloginess from it.

Keith

The difference with Wordpress is that it pings all the major search engines every time you update you site with a new post, notifying them of updated content. This will help to get your posts indexed much faster however you will usually only experience a temporary boost in rankings and then drop far down the results. In my opinion, this is because it is seen more as news than a permanent web page and thus has a limited lifetime. In my experience Wordpress is great for temporary quick results but over time is harder than a traditional site in the SE's. Hope that helps.

I would say that this is true. I have started writing a blog 2 month ago aside my main site and right now every post is indexed. It is worth saying that not every page of my main site got indexed.
