November 24, 2009 (PAP Newswire) – After a scandal last month involving Poland’s Prime Minister and some prominent gambling figures (it’s complicated), that Eastern European country has voted to outlaw all forms of gambling not taking place in a traditional casino.  

The law was specifically means slot machines, but also includes online gambling, which of course includes Internet poker.

The nation’s lawmakers passed the bill by an enormous margin, showing their desire to make some kind of a bold statement. However, if the example of Russia tells us anything, this new law will likely only serve to push gamblers to alternate means of playing the game.

“The enforcement of this aspect of the bill will inevitably prove much more difficult than even the removal of thousands of slot machines,” stated the Krakow Post. Read that article here.
