Actually Dan it's a little bit higher. First there are costs associated with marketing the Free $10 campaign and getting the news out to players. Also most poker rooms are part of a network and receive on average 70-80% of the rake generated. The other 20% goes to the software company (ie: Boss Media, Playtech, etc). I would say that the deal costs them more like $20 per player.
Still, with every one in a million people like you who generate $5k it makes the 'numbers game' work.
