Not downhill, but a part of consistent policy. Mason has never been a "rising tide lifts all boats" kind of guy. Everyone who does anything that doesn't promote book his sales is seen as a threat.
This also reflects on 2+2's extraordinarily poor income production from their website. It's funny, if Mason knew how to run a free website at a profit, he'd be saying the opposite.
It's missing the big picture, but its their website. Also, it IS an interesting issue: how to balance income via a free website versus income via paid book sales. Other poker sites have similar issues, balancing free content versus paid. It's a tough thing to be for sure right about.
