I like to use posts as much as possible.

I notice my posts get indexed much faster than my pages. It might have something to do with posts showing up on the front page immediately. Another thing might be the built in "pinging" system that tells news sources, social sites, and search engines that you've added a post. Perhaps pages don't ping?!?

To make posts appear the same as pages, I use the permalink structure /%postname%/ so a post called Poker Room Review shows up sitename.com/poker-room-review/ as opposed to sitename.com/10/08/poker-room-review/ or sitename/category/poker-reviews/poker-room-reviews/

This also allows you to change categories without having to do redirects and whatnot.
