I've done quite a bit of research and have found MANY different figures as far as proper buy-ins based on your current bankroll...
Here's what I've found the normal to be:
Single Table Tournaments
strong player - 20 buy-ins
average player - 30 buy-ins
weak player - 40 buy-ins
Multi Table Tournaments
strong player - 50 buy-ins
average player - 75 buy-ins
weak player - 100 buy-ins
No Limit Cash Games
strong player - 30 buy-ins
average player - 45 buy-ins
weak player - 60 buy-ins
Fixed Limit Cash Games
strong player - 20 buy-ins
average player - 30 buy-ins
weak player - 40 buy-ins
