we can hope. i'm tired of trying to make ppl see how stupid this law is in the first place. the fact that many ppl don't even know about it is just beyond comprehension. every bill should be made clear to the public. assuming they want to learn what is going on, then there would be no surprise to ppl when this crap goes up for a late night vote.

Well the clip does say they are debating whether it online poker is legal or not in the U.S. or whether it should be or whatever but save for a few states who have legislation that may prohibit it, but aren't and really can't enforce it anyway, it's already legal and the federal government doesn't even decide this stuff. The courts have already determined that the Wire Act doesn't apply here. Man there's so much damn misinformation here about this stuff. The most they've been able to do is make it so players there had to choose alternate methods to deposit and withdrawal from online gaming sites but it's as easy as it ever was.

I go out of my way to educate players on this and I hate to see stuff like this in the media because all it does is fuel the misconceptions. There's no reason for any initiatives here because none are required. All that's needed is for players and potential players to know that yes it's already legal and here's how you get your money in there and here's how you get it out and so on. I know I tend to harp on this quite a bit but instead of blaming Congress we as an industry need to stop pouting and begging and simply realize that this is essentially a non-issue and work a lot harder to get the word out and dispel this myth.

you are correct there, ppl do need to be made aware. the issues that the uigea really bring are to the banks. they would obviously like this to have shut down the gaming industry outside the usa, but it hasn't because there are - as you said - alternative methods of deposite. enforcing gaming laws - or non gambling online laws - is nearly impossible because it can't be done across the board.

to me however, it is entertaining to consider the idea that they would end this hype, as often that is enough, and we've seen evidence that it is squelishing, but not shutting down. it would be nice to see one of these ppl stand up and take the challenge, if only to entertain us, or for chairty.

education is always key, but congress has relied on their banter to create the mystique of illegality, and avoid possible constitutional challanges. to date, it has cased many would be and once were players to stop gambling and playing poker online. if they understood the effect of the measure in its entirity, along w/ the enforcement measures being minimul due to the most obvious obstalces, they would return to the game format. well, likely anway.

ok, i'm tired, before i babble further and make far less sense than that did, i'm going to try to sleep.

personally i believe it is a combo here. i think congress is using the media and vice versa on the issue. jmho

that link does however concern me just a touch. was doing research for a prospective new domain, and came across it.

just an after thought - i can't understand why a government would push so hard against their people for earning a living. are american affiliates going to be on the 'hit list' in the end too? i'm sure before it gets to the 'little guy' some one or many someones would have stood up by then, but they are pushing aside major corporations right now, the thought is going to be there until this is resolved.
