Corruption within college athletics
Kaus reminded me of my college days in the states. We went to the sourthern conference championships. Defending against our nearest rivals Morehouse College in Atlanta. The problem was the event was held in their own turf with their own officials. I was rolling about laughing when my teammate, a world class triple jumper lost with 1cm, they took a meter off his distance & a Moorhouse athlete won, haha. I did 3 events but the one chance they got, they tried to get me too. It was my 1st & only ever 10k on the track. It was about 100% heat, too hot for a scotsman never mind the humidity. I was about to lap a moorhouse runner and he clung on to me. The officials decided to give me an extra lap to run so we were back to even. We battled back & forth for the last 10 laps. It was one of the toughest races of my life. If only they had allowed me to rum the correct distance it would have been a breeze. I beat him on the line & A&M defended the title so it all worked out. Its funny now but I was cursing the officials on every lap to the finish. Damn they take their athletics seriously over there. It was a poxy college race, you would think there was millions bet on the event. Now this is a small sport like athletics. I wonder what its like with the real money college sports like football, baseball & basketball
