Its funny you mentioned this Richard. I had a good sales job. Was making almost 6 figures. I just got layed off 3 weeks ago. This is when I decided to put more effort into affiliate marketing. I get about 3 months severance and this will pay my bills for the next 6-9 months. Im going to take a crack at playing poker fulltime and marketing poker part time. If I can make over 60K per year I can survive but I really need to make 100k to make it worthwhile. We'll see how it goes. Right now I need to log alot of hours at the poker table and Im not getting the time in. Poker can be brutal when you are running bad. And I dont have the big affiliate checks coming in yet. Worst case scenario I go back to work in 6 months.

I drempt of being a pro tournament player as a teenager, 25 years ago, but as I got older the perceived glamour of it all wore off and the daily grind of a cash player is very hard on your mental health and personal life. Believe me.

"A tough way to make an easy living", is an understatement.

I work in the forests of British Columbia, Canada as a foreman for a reforestation company.

I get layed off every winter for 4 months so I'm a part-time, full-time poker affiliate.

This winter I accually made more money as an affiliate than I would have made at my day job so it's tempting to give up the rain, scorching summer heat, cuts and brusies, blackflies and mosquitos but then I get a crappy affiliate month like February was for me, and I crave those steady paychecks.

I just went back to work on March 1, and I don't think I could ever give up the fresh air and exersise, the abundant wildlife and the beautiful scenery I experience everyday, spring, summer and fall.

Not to mention the comratery I have with my work buddies who I've been to hell and back with all those years. Oh the stories we could tell.

I guess I have the best of both worlds thanks to my laptop and the internet.

I would love to quit my job and do something else full time....hopefully this combined with my other programs will lead to that goal.

There's no way I will give up my job. But I am looking to start my own business in software sales....and what better way to start than to "sell" Poker software

Once I hit the 15K a month mark, I may quite my job.....

Guys - simle advice - i'm 26 and been involved in more businesses in the last 2 years than I want to start counting. I hope this lasts for the long term.

I sold my bussiness as a Dealer assistant on eBay. Started 1 year ago for about 3 k in expences and sold for over 100K. I live well below my means so I started going to vegas and other casinos and playing.

I came in 3rd in a tourney won about 2K, cane in 10th in another won about 800 and 12 in another for 600. Plus with ring games 1 month about 5K. SO I think I will stick it out.

I plan on getting the affiliate business running with more of my time and play poker here and there until it gets going. This way I have steady income I placed 3 of 5 so I know the way the odds are I could very well go on a losing streak.

I plan it all out and have set goals before I move up to the bigger tournaments. I need more tournament play expierence before that step is taken. I want to feel if I enter a tourney I will place.

So I guess yes i did.

I quit my 6 figure job in 2002 and went full time SEO. Loving it.

I only started poker recently. I used to think it was too competitive but I'm finding it to be easier than I thought.
