I drempt of being a pro tournament player as a teenager, 25 years ago, but as I got older the perceived glamour of it all wore off and the daily grind of a cash player is very hard on your mental health and personal life. Believe me.
"A tough way to make an easy living", is an understatement.
I work in the forests of British Columbia, Canada as a foreman for a reforestation company.
I get layed off every winter for 4 months so I'm a part-time, full-time poker affiliate.
This winter I accually made more money as an affiliate than I would have made at my day job so it's tempting to give up the rain, scorching summer heat, cuts and brusies, blackflies and mosquitos but then I get a crappy affiliate month like February was for me, and I crave those steady paychecks.
I just went back to work on March 1, and I don't think I could ever give up the fresh air and exersise, the abundant wildlife and the beautiful scenery I experience everyday, spring, summer and fall.
Not to mention the comratery I have with my work buddies who I've been to hell and back with all those years. Oh the stories we could tell.
I guess I have the best of both worlds thanks to my laptop and the internet.
