Default Getting a credit card just for business things

Ive never had a credit card before. I have a debit card that I use for personal stuff, but I need a credit card now to keep my business expenses seperate. Any suggestions on what I should be looking for? My monthly spending won't be more than $1,500-$2,000. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Much depends if you are going to be letting it ride each month or paying it off. Either way you should get one that has perks like gold points or frequent flier miles. If you spend enough, the frequent flier miles can perhaps pay for a couple industry trips to conventions.

The only other advice I would say starting out is the same as when you first get a card in college. Just be smart with it and don't overspend on it. This is nice too however to keep track of your right offs at the end of the year.

Also if you really have time to burn, sign up for an affiliate program, and then collect a nice CPA......financial CPA's rival the top poker CPA's

Just keep in mind, the end goal is to qualify for an American Express Black.

Really, you never had a credit card in college? Part of the joy of college is racking up at least $5k-$10k in credit card debt and paying ridiculous interest rates and payments each month to slowly pay them off. I hope you have some type of credit though....if you don't have at least some decent credit you'll end up with really high crappy APRs.

I read somewhere that most Americans carry between 5-10 credit cards.....which sounds about right, I probably have 6-7 different cards, only of which 2-3 I actually generally use.

I enjoy getting a credit card through my bank because it makes finances easier. For example, I bank with Bank of America and have my most important credit card through them as well. It makes it easier to view all of my statements from my bank account AND my credit card online at the same place, same time. I enjoy having all of my main accounts in a central location, less places to keep up with, everything right in front of you at once. However, if you prefer separate accounts all over the place, basic financial programs like Microsoft Money makes it pretty easy to track finances from all over.

But also, definitely look for a good rewards scheme that you can get good use out of. I think after spending about $30k on my main credit card in a year or two, I have enough points to buy something lame like a $250 Visa gift card. Some banks and credit cards also offer like a free $100-$200 first statement credit after 3 months or whatever, like a sign-up bonus, so maybe look out for those too.

My two cents.

Damn thats as lame as my rewards program , had to spend 50k in past 2 years and all i got for it was 2 airline tickets in the US or i could have gotten a $500 gift card.

Anyone know of any cc with a good rewards program
