Default US lawmaker to seek online gambling ban exemptions

Quote:
WASHINGTON, June 6 (Reuters) - A Florida congressman is expected to introduce legislation on Thursday exempting poker and some other games from the Internet gambling ban passed by Congress last year, the lawmaker's aide said on Wednesday.

The bill planned by Democratic Rep. Robert Wexler would carve out "skill games" such as online poker, bridge, chess and mahjong from the online gambling prohibition that President George W. Bush signed into law in October.

"It allows Americans to play poker online as they should have every right to do," a Wexler spokesman, Josh Rogin said on Wednesday.

How long do these things take in the US? Is there a vote today or is it just the paperwork?

So how many congressman disapprove of the bill and are fighting for exemption so far? Will this be taken into account

Best 2 point I have heard yet from Frank. that when a governemnet chooses to protect adults from chioces that are poor is the wrong decsion, why should we protect an adult and id we continue to do so it will lead to a poorer lifestyle.. People are addicted to many things that result in poor choices..people are addicted to video games, sex.......

All of the suggestions made by the opposite was saying teens and those who are younger will become addicted, will spend all their money when yet all the examples that have been so far given are people who are much older and able to make their own choices.

Best of it all Litlle old lady (Carson I believe) gets up on the panel and talks about the kentucky derby and how she is betting on line with it any where in Indiana. She says
" Question why can I bet online with the horses but Interent Gambling is not allowed. Can any of you refined gentalmen answer that for me?"

A long pause

" You can't answer my question"

An answer was given to here which is the same answers we have always heard.

She talks about people gambling now whether they are resposible or not they are still gambling. We can not make people become responsable and this will not stop them from gambling. She voted in favor of appealing the UIGEA!

I hope that this is able to view through video feed as I think this women who looks to be in here 60's at least has brought more intellgient points than anyone yet. She comments that she is not the brightest of people but I disagree.
