Default From the Cake Team- They are going the Full Tilt route (fees deducted)

Dear Cake Poker Affiliate,

Up to this point in time we have been fortunate enough to be able to
absorb all our player’s processing fees as described below in
item #3. As we strive to maintain our position in the market we are
now forced to start deducting deposting fees as of December 1st,
2007.

Please note that CakePoker’s affiliate agreement states that we
calculate the “Net Generated Revenue” as the sum total of
all associated rakes* and tournament fees that your real money
players generate in a calendar month. From this we deduct
“Costs” which include:

1. Any fraud attributed monies.
2. Transactions that are reversed on our behalf or that of the
card-holder’s bank (called ‘charge backs&rsquo.
3. Processing charges with regard to your real money player’s
real money transactions.
4. Any revenue deemed ‘uncollectible’ by us that was
attributed to your real money players.
5. Any monies paid on our behalf to your real money player to resolve
a dispute

*Associated Rake refers to the rake we attribute to real money
players who were dealt cards at the beginning of the hand, regardless
of their contribution to the pot. As an example: If a table has 10
players where some players fold without contributing anything to the
pot but the rake is still paid for this hand (say it’s $2 for
this instance), all players would have an associated rake $0.20. The
equation is:

Associated Rake = (rake for the hand) / (number of players dealt
cards in that hand).
Commission = [Commission percentage * (Associated Rake + Tournament
fees - Costs)]

In an effort to provide more accurate and transparent affiliate
reporting CakePoker is changing the way we display your NGR in your
affiliate account. Currently, our affiliate reporting does not show
your player’s deductions. As of December 1st, 2007, we will be
updating our reporting to show all player deductions.

There will be three new columns added:

1) Promotional Items
2) Deposit Bonuses
3) Deposit Fees

As always we appreciate all of our affiliate’s contributions to
our continued growth. We consider our affiliates to be our business
partners and an integral part of our success. If you have any
questions or concerns please feel free to contact
affiliates@cakepoker.com any time.

I don't think the fees are as intense. But most rooms do this, just depends on how much they take out.

That's truly disappointing. Personally, I've opted to promote Sportsbook Poker instead as they're on the same network with a better affiliate program, in my opinion.

Well, I thought I would increase their exposure a little last month and see what happens. Needless to say, they will be coming right back down. At this rate, if I sent them 100 depositors I might be able to buy a bag of marbles. I don't do much with poker and I seldom stay on top of my poker stats like I do casino, but how can a guy have almost 600 raked hands, and the end result for me is I still owe them $19.87. I mean I understand why because of the deposit fees and bonus, but don't they run frequent reload bonuses, so how the hell do I outrun all those fees so I can actually make money on this player? Even if they are an avid player, if they are redepositing it looks like I have no shot to be in the black with a player while having to fade these fees and bonuses.

On one hand I can appreciate not making money on a player until the poker site actually starts making money on him. It just looks like the only way I can make money is if I land a real good player who doesn't have to redeposit or draw any bonuses, then I have a shot. All I know is they raked $281, and I made a big $6 so far. Am I just looking at this from one angle or can I actually turn this room into a profit center for me, and if so how when I can't control the things that are killing me? I mean shit, I am working for 2% total rake right now. It looks to me like I am pissing in the wind and need to be sending these players to a different joint. Any thoughts?

That is a joke (9.4% commission!)... definitely not promoting them.

Every 100 players @ Cake are worth about $20,500 per year to me.
Man those would be some expensive marbles

I have a lot of long term players who probably cash out often and rarely deposit. So far my deposit fees are 1.2% of rake for December.

Pretty sporty. I take it your a rakeback affiliate that is able to draw in the sharks since they seldom redeposit? Anyway, I think its fair to say that a small percentage of poker players actually win, so making decent money with this site for the average affiliate is probably going to be pretty tough for most of us in light of the new fees.

BTW Graham, its not even 9.4 commission. My earnings are $6.62 . That $26.48 is just the gross revenue and not my cut. I think its more like 3% lmao!!!
