Default Movies, music, tv while you work????

What does everyone do while they work at their computer?

I used to use my laptop and sit in the living room and watch tv while I worked. Im finally realizing that was a horrible idea and I wasnt very productive.

However, I also can't sit and work in a silent room cause well it's way too boring. I've realized that the best thing for me to do is watch movies that I've seen a few times. This way I dont really have to pay attention to them that close, but it also "keeps me company".

What's your working conditions like at home????

Personally complete silence does not bother me one bit. Although quite often, I will pull up winamp and listen to an array of music.

When I feel like surfing the net I throw on a downloaded TV show, on one of my monitors.

Plug: Everyone should watch the TV series, Dexter. Such a wicked show.

Kind of funny, cause I have Sirius satellite in my car and get the free online players, its' great no commercials, but I never listen to it when I"m working, although it's not distracting I just never turn it on

I also have another 24 inch monitor right next to my work computer that's hooked up to a 2 terabyte server with like 500 DVD Movies on it, and I never watch those either.

Usually, just me and the computer solo, except when the wife comes in for entertainment

It has to be pretty quiet for me, but then again I don't have a TV so thats one less distraction to worry about.

I also don't have set times for working. I always have my computer on throughout the day on messenger and music, and if I think of something to write I will get down and write it. I turn off the music and messenger and write the article.

I have no set schedule and just do things as they come into my head. But I like silence for when I'm writing.

I usually play music while I work, it really helps me focus.

However, we are considering a TV for the office to play some motivational video throughout the day, but I'm guessing that would actually decrease my productivity...

I need music and I prefer the net for it. I live in a small town with no reception whatsoever so the net is my source of music. As such I went and bought surround sound for the PC..the louder the better. Movies or TV is the exact opposite..I cant concentrate with that type of background noise.

Nice idea for a post Justin. I like to start the day checking emails while drinking coffee and watching the news for an hour or so. After that and once the kids wake up, I go out to my office and work.

I usually have Pandora music playing on one of the computers while I work. Maybe it's just me, but sitting in an office by myself all day without any music would drive me crazy. It would be like solitary confinement!

Then at night I will usually get back online after the kids are in bed. But always from the comfort of my family room so I can make sure not to miss any of the garbage television shows my wife like to watch

I listen to Alex Jones while working... good ole talk radio with a slant. Give a week, see what you think. His show airs live daily at 12:00pm est from the 'listen now' button on his website there, and it streams 24/7. It's not your average talk show, that's for sure.

Although sometimes I do have just some silence.
