Question Do Poker Rooms Cheat?

With all the rumours/crazy stuff going on with the poker rooms these days, I would really like to know affiliates honest opinions about poker rooms cheating players.

So, here is a poll - please give your honest opinion, and if you can, support it with your explanation.

In the last 4 years I think AP and UB are the only two rooms that have had credible evidence against them. IMO you should not hold their actions against the rest of the community.

Who ever voted for the first option couldn't be more wrong. To say that it is very common is absurd. Of course if you are dealing with flybynight companies you could run into some issues (which is still very rare), but there is no way cheating is common with middle or upper tier poker rooms.

There was one issue due to one stupid employee/ceo who thought he could get away with something. Its to bad because now threads like these are created that only fuel the fire. If 10 people show up and vote for option one just because they want to start some drama, it quickly becomes a black eye for the industry because other members could be swayed.

Online poker is safe, online poker is not rigged. Just don't deal with rooms that have a template for a home page.

Any place below a top tier room I think the likeliness that insider cheating happens is increased.

The only reason I started this thread is to get the sense of what affiliates think out there...

UB is now being accused of cheating....and....other sites have been suspected in the past.

But...most importantly....some people are taking it very personally and trashing affiliates who promote rooms who are suspected of this. And, I don't like that. We are being called all kinds of names if we still promote AP and now starting to be the same with UB. I think this is very unfortunate.

You can read that thread and yes corpfan is right alot of the high stakes players are throwing some pretty nasty things at affiliates...more so the big sites where they think the dollar comes before the players.

Do I think that online rooms cheat - no, but I also dont think that the security measures are what they could be. The cheating from players is what I personally think is the biggest issue, not the rooms. The rooms just take the blunt of it.

I would also never play at a room that looks cheap or is a no name.

I voted that most rooms can be trusted, and I am very confident in that. I'm sure there are some very strict rules about running an online poker room, and so its not going to be easy to create a room with the sole intention of scamming players.

There are obviously some very rare cases where cheating happens (ag AP), but when these come about they get blown up so much that everyone hears of it and the media goes to town with it. One small blip seems to taint the industry so much, which is pretty unfair overall. So it makes it seem as though cheating is normal or common when really it isnt.

This topic/poll is too broad to be valid. Define cheating...
Do you mean a site where super user accounts can be used?
Or sites where the RNG is being manipulated?
Or sites that don't pay out for whatever reason they come up with?
Or sites that manipulate the affiliate stats for their gain?

As for cheating such as went on at Absolute, I think that if it's happening at other sites, we will eventually expose it. I hope it's the exception and not the rule.

As for Ultimate Bet - the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

When a site gets caught cheating (in any manner), they should be dragged through the mud in public forums and the media. Since there is really no valid authority in charge of regulating the industry, it falls on us to make the public aware of the scams and cheating going on out there. Priority one should be our players best interest.
