Okay, here are some cool promotional strategies that I tried, and they worked really well. The first was at the Nationals baseball game, I bought a king shize sheet for $15 and a $7 ticket to the game, then wrote my URL on the sheet and hung it over the railing in front of of 35,000 fans! I had to take it down after like 5 minutes, but I didn't get in any trouble and EVERYONE there saw it, I walked around the stadium and heard people talking about it. I'll admit, this was a risk, but I did some research before hand and foundout that nothing bad could really happen to me, so I went for it. But to be on the safe side, I put "We love the Nationals" at the bottom so they wouldn't go too mad.
Another nationals promotion that I did was when I sat behind home plate and I wore my website's T-Shirt and Brought a sign that had my website name on it. This sign was on TV for the whole game in front of thousands of people.
These two promotions together got me a few thousand visitors to my site and I'll estimate at least 20 sign ups.
Also, I made a bunch of shirts with my website name and sold. gave the away. This was very cheap and was WELL worth it.
Also, biz cards are a must. Everytime I meet a new person I give them a biz card. I recentely ordered another 10K. They arent as effective as just tlaking to people but they are cheap and good to have on hand.
Finally, sign are very good. Pick a street and just load it up with signs. They are so cheap and when people see 100s of signs they will visit the site. 1-2 sign ups will pay for the signs. Just hire people to put them up.
