I'm working on a press release today that is so hot I'm tempted to let it go on Saturday (the earliest that PRweb can do it). Has anyone here ever done that and got a good initial response? I can wait till Monday if need be but this is so innovative and original I'm like a kid at Christmas!

Please give me some feedback ASAP. I'm thinking in todays web based world that a release that goes out over the weekend may not be that detrimental.

1) If you want to hear from me, don't ask questions before noon Pacific time....

2) I don't do press releases so I'm no help here.

3) This weekend, all bets are off. The WSOP ends Friday night. The world will be swamped in poker news Saturday. This of course could be both good and bad for you, but if I had to guess, I'd say wait till Monday and not get lost in the shuffle.

If your message is "so hot" why don't you pay for the listing instead of sending a free one. If you pay, the earliest it will go out is Thursday. Why would you waste newsworthy information by doing a free PR?

I've never released on a weekend since I don't want to go up against stiff competition, like the WSOP ending. If your release ties into that then it definitely could be a wise choice but you'd know more about that than I would. I've always done my releases in the middle of the week so media outlets have a few days to pick it up before posting it. When you do a press release it doesn't magically pop up on sites all over the net (pardon any negative sarcasm). I'm just of the opinion that in the middle of the week the top news sites might see a well written article and push it heavy on that day and lesser known news sites might not find it till the weekend and post it anyway...even a week after you do a release it'll still get hits and pickups so sometimes surfing the day with the lowest contribution might be wise. There's probably an arguement for releasing any day so do what you think is right.

I do however recommend going up to the $80 contribution. A well written press release is guarenteed to be put into Yahoo news and other popular news sites at that level and I've considered that exposure worth the extra $50.

Well stated Peelman. I like your like the way you think. The $80 level gets a huge amount of exposure. I once contributed $40 and got about 50,000 reads, but another time I contributed $80 and I got 150,000 reads. I would however ultimately suggest contributeing $120 if you have "hot news" because you will be above all of those people who just contibute $80 and will usually get the front page. A placement like that on WSOP day would be huge if your had a really good PR.

I deleted the useless, hostile posts in this thread so that it would be useful again.

Ahhhhhh it is true PPP, you work degenerate poker hours just like the rest of us

I would say unless your PR has to do with the WSOP it may get lost in the shuffle. Especially at the free level you will be way behind most of the other PR's. On the other hand if you drop some coin $80+ you may be able to get in towards the top and be included in google and yahoo news which will probably have alot of searches regarding poker and the WSOP come Monday morning.

just my thoughts.

This is a good point.

It won't be fresh when the wsop stuff hits, but it will be cached in the search engines so you have a shot of it showing up when legitimate stuff from like espn, the poker sites themselves, and rueters hit the fan.
