As some of you may already know, Party Poker has introduced another software update which discourages online poker cheaters from using online poker software. Party Poker's latest update has been designed to read your computer's open programs and see what you have open. This is not new news, however the list of "cheater" programs that give players "an unfair advantage" has grown to include programs such as PokerTracker, Poker-Edge, and many other well known statistical analysis programs.

Developers everywhere are furious and don't know what to do. They are all closely communicating with Party Poker on the matter and hope to resolve it with a compromised solution. "We are currently in negotiations with Party Gaming, working towards a resolution. In the meantime, we strongly recommend that you do not use our product, and uninstall it from your computer (as PartyPoker can invade your harddrive and detect it)," stated the webmaster of Poker-Edge.com. "We suggest you e-mail PartyPoker with your displeasure about their invasion of your privacy. Be aware that they routinely "scan" your harddrive whether or not you have Poker-Edge installed."

Does this make it more difficult for online poker affiliates to promote? Does it affect the people who are being signed up to play online poker at Party Poker? This change means that we are losing a niche to which has been a major selling point for many online poker affiliates and is having a negative affect on those who are promoting online poker software programs such as those mentioned above.

Or could this be a good thing for online poker affiliates? Could this change make new players feel more comfortable playing online poker at Party Poker? Could it wipe out the misconceptions of people who are using programs such as WinHoldem to cheat at online poker?

However you may feel about this topic, there will still be people playing online poker who have developed their own method to cheat, but now these people will be few and far apart. The online poker community at Party Poker is now a safer one for new players and that could be a major selling point.

If you disagree with the recent change in Party Poker's policies, then please email "accountinfo@partypoker.com" if you are a player and "affiliates@partypoker.com" if you are an online poker affiliate.

Anything that invades your privacy & even hints at being "spyware" is a bad thing IMO.

Even non-computer users have heard the term "spyware" & all the bad mojo connected to it.

Weighed against online cheating?... man, thats a tough call!
You're going to have people on both sides of the fence, either way they're going to be split.

Sounds like a no win situation
