I agree, this person did not do the right thing, but I also agree with others that it COULD have been much worse. Meaning, not getting your money back at all. I know this has happened to some here and certainly I have experienced this over the years.

It's funny how some people can so easily do this type of thing behind a computer. I think that is one drawback of doing business online is that you cannot see each other and meet face to face. It's much harder to do this type of thing when you are face to face with the person.

The good news is that this is over and there are plenty of positive people in this industry that override the negative. I truly believe that.

I agree with that everyone said, things happen and you just need to move on and learn a lesson from it. I'm not sure of all the details with the deal, but I've heard of much worse things happening.

Also, you mentioned contracts, I have used a few contracts of some bigger deals I've done. Never a bad Idea when you are dealing with thousands..

While your situation sucks it is sort of par for the course in this industry. It is not uncommon for people to make commitments to you and then leave when they get a better deal.

Sucks but eventually you just deal with it and move on.

Just for the record, I'd like to mention that the vast majority of people I have worked with on PAP have been trustworthy and stand-up guys (and girls). It's just that the odd few really can spoil things a lot, but you just gota be careful, and forget about people that don't stick to their word.

When I wrote this post I was wondering what type of response it would get, I am re-inspired by the fact that most of you seem to view business like I do (as I was beginning to wonder).

Thanks for all the replies, I'll be moving on now.

Try not to let the small stuff get to you bro. It will consume you if you let it and it will hold you down and take on a life of its own. It's Friday man, give yourself a short day today, grab a few brewhas tonight, maybe do a little fishing this weekend and come back next week refreshed and ready to rock n roll.

This business is way too exciting to let something like this eat away at you Murph.

Don't associate one person's actions as a reflection to everyone else here. What you describe is really a fundamental business principle that is applicable to any industry, not just ours.

I'd like to alleviate your concerns: I've had the pleasure of dealing with multiple PAW members on various transactions and I have not had serious issues with anyone. All of my dealings have been good. Some did not go as planned, but the individuals I dealth with certainly made an effort to ensure that I was a satisfied customer, which is all the matters in the end. Sometimes, things can happen. Good judgement and understanding can be required.

People I dealt with were recommended by other members. I don't deal with just anyone when it's time to pay upfront for a service, and I talk to people to get a feel. There's no guarantess in anything, and you are taking a risk when dealing with a person you don't know that well, but asking some questions can reduce that risk (but never fully eliminate it).

It seems to me like you really over reacted with your post in the sense that you write up this extreemly long rant (which I didn't finish reading either) to ask about a problem that could have been explained in one paragraph. This, as a follow up to an experience that wasn't positive, but not that severe either. It's not like the person took your money and ran. But they certainly didn't respect their part of the agreement which is a shame. I still dont' understand why you would associate an individual transaction as a reflection of what to expect in your dealings with PAP members. It's almost insulting in a way.

You say you won't name them, but honestly, I would love to know who makes a sale and then turns you down because he sold the same thing twice. The fact that they change the original terms and ask for the rest of the payment upfront to "pay their mortgage" is also a red flag I think. I'd love to know who they are simply to avoid dealing with someone like that in the future. Would you please PM me the info?

It seems to be calling someone out like that might be a problem for the forum, maybe even against Jeremy's policies.

It wasn't just a simple "well the deal didn't work out" it was in my opinion a breach of contract, just not one I care to enforce..... and the timing of how he approached me with the deal, and the second deal, and was in general just pretty much being very "buddy buddy" with me, up until the point I sent the money and didn't hear from him much at all after that.

His justifications were "I have to do what is right for my family" "I came to you like a man" "I didn't take your money and run like some would".......all VERY unethical and without integrity in my opinion.

You are right about my post though, I was venting just personally and specifically about this situation.

This person was reccomended to me by many on this forum, and I think is considered fairly well respected..... as I know he chats with a lot of you on a daily basis.

I think, it is probably wise to drop it.

Sure. This is fairly minor anyway. But if anyone really does get screwed royally by another forum member, I think it's in the interest of the community to hear about it (and get both sides of the story), and not to start a debate or a flamewar. Simply to report the facts and then walk away. Because making the information available protects the community. I don't know how others feel about it however.

A general bitch doesn't do anybody any good. If someone has a beef about about somebody else, say so and what it is.

Threads like these encourage newbies to not trust anyone, which granted is not a horrible view, but its much less productive than being specific.

This is a forum for people to help each other, not merely to make individuals feel better by generically complaining.
