I have a few thoughts & questions regarding Poker rooms & Casinos?
Any input is appreciated!

The big #1 is the legalities?

I see the U.S. eventually backing off & legalizing online poker, not casinos though. It'll be a cold day in the hot place first!
Almost daily, I see state, county & city govts. legalizing poker & poker rooms, usually along with a change in the classification of Poker as a game of skill (which it is...period!)

The WTO is all for it, the population at large is all for it, its going to continue either way etc. etc. As soon as the bloodsuckers figure out how to tax it, its a done deal IMO.

Thoughts, Comments?

#2 is...
I think lumping online Poker in with the online Casinos & casino games is bad for everyone involved w/poker. This goes back to a question I asked in the Conference thread...
"Is there a Poker specific conference anywhere?"

Every anti-gambling stigma out there is pretty close to the truth, when it comes to casino games, house advantages etc. Not to mention the ease that casinos can skew the software.

Poker being a game of skill, is the one loophole that we have working to our advantage & is almost impossible to dispute!
I can see nothing but good things happening for everyone involved, by making a firm distinction between the 2!

Poker is Poker, Casino games are, well... 'nuff said.

We need our own "Poker" conference & trade org.

Jeremy, you should host a conference for all partyriches members! That would be awesome! I would make the trip if it was in vegas or califonia.

In a few years I think that is definately an option. Were not quite big enough yet to do that.

70 views & not a single serious reply?

reminds me of an old quote...
"The pessimist complains about the wind. The optimist expects it to change. The realist adjusts the sails."

Seems nobody wants to talk shop about anything around here? except sticking crap on cardoors & urinals lol

really? its that much more profitable?

Casinos are way at the bottom of my ToDo list though, for a lot of reasons.

First, Money isn't everything to me & from my perspective... theres the legalities & a few moral issues I have with it. I don't trust the B&M casino games, let alone these cyber ones. These things can seriously destroy lives with the quickness!
I see it all the time with our state run machines in the pubs here in Oregon. People spending hours in the game room betting as fast as they can click lol
A whole lot more come out looking beat down than smiling with a ticket to cash in!

Poker on the other hand has done & been nothing but good things & fun for me. It has seriously improved my patience in all aspects of life.
You may have noticed? I'm kind of abrasive lol You should have seen me before the improvement in patience lmao

I was seriouysly hoping to meet up with some like minded folks here, talk shop, trade some tip & tricks etc.
Don't know if the abrasive part has kept everybody standoffish? or if thats just the way it is around here?

I'm blunt & aggressive in everything I do, all of my friends are the same way. You'd think we were bitter enemies, by the way we talk to each other at times.
Always in good fun, just talkin' trash... but to an outsider?

Don't let the abrasive part turn you off. I've found abrasive & aggressive weeds out the fish in a hurry. Don't have the time & still don't have the patience for that lookylou 1/2 assed BS from people!
If you're serious? lets rock! otherwise, lookout... trains comin' lol

I have a few projects in line, that are geared towards participation from lots of different sites, that everyone would profit from.
Anyone interested in contributing poker related articles for advertising & promotion benefits?

I also have a poker T-shirt project, that will have great affiliate commissions, for those that are interested?
My new screenprinter will be here next week.

I'm damn good at what I do & theres no room for humble in this biz.
Poker on the other hand? I'm still a bubble phish

& Yes, everything about Frontpage sucks! you can sugar coat it all ya want, but fact is fact...deal with it!

cheers

Hi Greg

I have been involved in the marketing of both, so here goes:

1. Player Values
Generally, the value of a Player in a casino is slightly higher than a poker room. It is easy for a Player to come and burn $1k in a casino, and you have earned nicely from it. If the same Player loses $1k in poker quickly he is not necessarily a good Player for you.
Poker Moral: Teach Poker Players to play so they they win!

2. Legal Status
I agree that the US is more likely to approve online poker before casinos. You just have to look to what happened in North Dakota to realise it is only a matter of time before this happens.

However, all poker rooms work in both industries, so do not concern yourself too much. Should Poker be legalized in North Dakota or elsewhere, it will simply mean companies will be fored to restructure.

3. Moral issues
I can understand your thoughts. When I started n the industry, I also questioned my moral position, and I, perosnally, came to the following opinion: If you are promoting a casino that you trust 100% then (I felt) there is nothing wrong with it. People are going to gamble anyway, you may as well offer them the option of doing so in a relatively safe environment.

I agree that there are rogue casinos out there - as there are rogue poker rooms. Stay away from them! However, that doesn't mean that all online casinos are going to steal your money etc.

Just my thoughts on the matter...

Stephen

Thanx Stephen, I appreciate your reply & honesty!

I have so many poker irons in the fire, it'll be next year at the earliest, before I even think about Casinos. I plan on promoting Sportsbooks when the time comes though.
NOT betting on the Super Bowl is almost Un-American lol

I've been very impressed with you & Paradise, from the time you spend here helping affiliates. Actions speak much louder than words!

cheers
