I go lucky on last night. I have a weekly home game with a bunch of buddies every Sunday evening. We have a pretty big prize pool. We play NL game with 2 and 4 blinds with a 200 dollar max buy-in. Everyone rolls in there with 600-800 dollars and we normally have 8+ players.
Last night I couldn't make it. I've got kidney stones and was in a lot of pain. Little did i know, having Kidney stone saved me a lot of money and possible my life.
My normal Home game was held up at gun point. We've been playing for 2 years. In the begining we were very cautious at who we brought into the game. It was a friendly game and we wanted to keep it that way. Over the ye ars we have opened it up to new players. Not once have we had any problems. No cheaters, no fights, nothing.
Last night 2 new guys were invited. They were invited by a buddy. He didnt know them too well but they were interested in playing. Since we haven't had any problems we have let anyone play that wants to.
Well, last night we had it bite us in the butt. The two new guys showed up and held the room up at gun point not too long after everyone bought in. Lucky everyone was smart enough to just hand over their money and let the guys leave. No one was hurt how ever one of the hosts sons who is 8 heard the yelling and saw a gun pointed at his dad. He is still in shock. They guys used fake names but my buddy's house has a security camara and got the license plate and good pictures of both.
Just thought I'd share this with everyone. I know home games are popping up all over the place. Please learn from our mistakes. Be very carefull with who you invite. We do have a decent size buy in, but I'm sure they would of done the same for just a few thougsand dollars.
Learn from our mistakes and watch who you invite to your home games. We have decided to hold off on the home games for a few weeks, but when we start them back up we'll take more security measures like a lock box and have plans to invite a local police officer into our game.
