If you have a standard html website + blog when should you start to consider getting a dedicated server (traffic wise)? I have heard the typical shared hosting account can handle around 50-100 simultaneous visitors. Also, can you host multiple websites on unique cblocks with a dedicated server? I know I can google it and find that part out but I'm curious about the major +'s of having a ded. server.

I've been with hostgator for over a year and been happy w/ them. Had an issue tonight w/ a FTP reset and they fixed it within 30 minutes. I'd recommend them. I'm also an affiliate with them and recommend them to others in full disclosure.

Serverbeach is the semi-managed division of Rackspace.com (full managed) that Jeremy mentioned.
Semi-managed means $15 per support ticket, instead of $150+ extra a month for support, if you need it or not?

I have used hostgator for a while now and never had a problem. Must have got lucky from what all you have said.

corpfan recommended bluehost for shared to me a while ago and they are good. but if you are looking to expand without moving over time maybe not the best. One more on the budget shared is siteground they are also pretty good.

I have also heard great things about server beach, someone i know outside of the poker world has some servers there and gets mega traffic. I think from what i can see and have read its a good choice.

I moved onto Hostgator a few months ago from an awful host (3iX) and have had no issues with them, I am on shared hosting. Was considering either dedicated or a reseller plan with them. Support has been good and I have not noticed any downtime. (old host was always down at 5 AM eastern)
