I have noticed a similar thing when it comes to rakeback. Someone starts off a thread about rakeback and all the software guys immediately chime in.

Yes I have noticed this as well and i don't think its appropriate. I am an AM but very rarely promote the company I work for ( PrimeGaming ) I use this for more personal use and If there ever is something my company can help with I will mention it but never push it on members or over exaggerate saying how great it is.
I think AM's should post and help members with what knowledge we have if any...

Cool

Ok - I'll play devils advocate ..

"Sponsors" that have paid to have a section present on this board are surely entitled to post promotional material in their own forum sections?

As an affiliate site I'm sure we all know and understand that it's money that pays for the continued existance of the board.

I don't consider it SPAM because it's not mass distributed email - its posted advertising (usually in their own forum sections) that you can choose to read or not ... let's face it the title and location usually give it away.

(Advocate ends)

Having said that there are a lot of "low use" posts appearing on PAP these days, and I know that when I use the "new post" facility to find new posts that I'll usually only open 1 in 15-20 posts to actually read it.

So I guess I agree it's occuring - but I'm also saying that I can bare with it if its controlled.

This post has nothing to do with sponsors posting in their own sections... more so non-sponsors posting in threads in the general affiliate discussion pumping their brands in various threads.

Thanks Jeremy, I might start spamming now. Only joking!

The way I see it is that you should only be allowed to say your programme offers rakeback for example (when someone asks about automated rakeback etc) if you are a sponsored programme.

We pay for the privilege to be on here and it is valuable to us - freeloaders should be shot

I don't care what happens to be honest, spammers have no place to hide and are only damaging their own reputation - long may it continue

I agree
I agree, but I'd hate it if it changed. I reported one of my own posts recently, because I made a silly yet out of line and inadvertently thread hijacking one liner joke. A guy was selling a tournament seat, and I totally ruined his thread. I asked to have the post deleted. It was, I don't think he ever did sell the seat.

In that case, I think we may have to many one liners, we do a lot of joking, and a lot of inadvertent thread hijacking.

As for the lol's, haha's or I just peed myself sort of comments.. we don't usually get 200 page threads like at DP, so it's not REALLY a problem is it?

It's what makes us a community, a real kick back sort of place where we really know each other, we do business with friends here.. that rules!

I don't know anyone at DP, but I've been a member there longer than here. If I see someone there from here, I get excited just like you do when you spot a friend in a grocery store.

I'd hate to see that change..

I'd hate to get an infraction for bumping when I really just wanted to say, OMG That sucks. Or What a great idea!

At DP, I stop to make sure every single one of my comments are 'strictly business' .. I still add some of my personality here and there, but I really HATE those infractions.

I'm one of those over sensitive people that that sort of thing still matters to.. maybe it's the girl in me, but even when strangers say mean things across the internet, in the form of little red bulbs, I don't like it.

So perhaps I'm not the majority here, but I do really still get offended each and every time I get one. I hate even seeing them in my private profile, and my last one is a year plus old!

Yuck. I'd hate for PAP to be all impersonal like that.
