By the sounds of it, you are not American, nor from California. In that case, you might struggle a bit. There is a cultural divide that might not go down well if you are trying to build a localized community

but anyway, i like your idea of starting with a niche but i'd go with a more generic domain so if it does work out and you want to branch out you are not restricted by your domain name. for instance pokerbaguette.com wouldn't make sense for england, they want bangersandpoker.com or something, but if you just did pokereats.com you could do it for any country

ahah, lol you guys. I was thinking of doing a french website as well.

I did my masters in the US and I've lived in California for years, although I am from France. I love CA and am fluent in english.

I also love the niche of a pokerbaguette, I can see french people flocking to the site.
