Certainly gives away a lot of information - makes it very easy to see what key-phrases to target.

I really am afraid of Google...
But ok, if you can use the given information properly you're on the edge.

yes, they have access to alot of information. If you have a successful business and are not doing everything 100% whitehat in googles eyes. Using google toolbar, gmail and google analytics could be dangerous for your business.

Better to be paranoid then sorry.

I wonder where Google is getting much of that information related to keyword searches? Perhaps Google Analytics?

Hmmm....

yeah, that and their toolbar. Have you ever used the live http headers plugin to see what happens when you surf the internet with the google toolbar installed?

Every page load sends a request back to google.

The info is fairly bad for sites not using analytics, and fairly good for sites using analytics.

If you have a soooper-secret popular search term, take analytics off your site. If you want your site to appear more popular than sites not using analytics, add analytics to your site.

Interesting tool, but I'd like to hear how anyone can really utilize the data.

Using the Pokerlistings example from the OP, exactly how could that data be used to compete with PokerListings?

Perhaps I'm a marketing newb, but I'd really like know what the big deal is?
