As affiliates, would the fact that an operator has the ability to offer you a direct, tracked download of the software swing your decision on whether to promote them or not?

This by iteself wouldn't swing my decision, but it is just one of those things that make things easier for affiliates by providing them with a good converting tool. If this feature was attributed with other similar tools or features then it would sway my decision.

Or perhaps co-branded landing pages which detail the specifics of the offer that the operator and affiliate have struck for those players?

This is a great idea IMO. Not only do you get instil confidence in the players mind that they will be getting the deal, it makes things look a lot more legitimate. It takes everything away from the old click my link scenario.

A huge step in the right direction. Good ideas

Id love to hear more about conversions for this, I have been turning down direct links because I thought users would rather see the site they are signing up to and it could be showing more up to date promos.
