Mr cryptic, lol.

Matt says...

And I was able to tell them why: they had no spam penalties, but Google is getting better at handling paid links, and the paid links that might have helped them last year just weren’t doing them any good now.

I'll take a guess and say they are trying to cut down on the 50 page PR4 sites that come from nowhere and start selling links as soon as the update come. We always see a flood of link sellers at that time.

Temp pr4 is easy to get but it doesnt last long.

I would rather take a pr 3 that has been around a while than a flash in the pan pr5.

If you are linked to those who get their links quickly you are at risk. just my guess.

The penalty is pretty gay indeed. I believe I may have found the root of the problem and it should be able to be fixed. There was a reason heavy link buyers didn't get penalized and some did.

Treading water SUCKS and makes you realize how lucky you are when things are going good. Thank god for rev. share.

Maybe hoursurfing can spill his findings?

I don't think any of these reasons are to blame, cause one of my sites dropped and I did nothing different than any of my other sites.

So, who knows??

hmm I've really been out of the loop... didn't even see this thread until this morning. Really suprising to see these powerhouse sites not even show up for their name... and for compatible not to show up for a usa online poker search... come on.

I've not heard of the '50 penalty' before... from my initial look it does seem to be related to link purchasing. Rog, if you don't mind sharing publicly I'd love to hear any findings you've discovered.

also, I certainly don't see this sticking as seriously these are authority sites with quality content but who the hell knows with the all mighty goog.
