Affiliate programs response time
Not getting responses reasonably fast is one of the main problems of many affiliate programs. It's very sad when you send them questions, it takes them weeks to respond, and you get something like: "sorry, can't do that" or "will contact you about this later".
I understand that super-affiliates should get a little more attention, and that some rooms are under-staffed when it comes to AMs, but this is really disappointing and some programs are losing partners everyday for this reason.
One example: I was trying to make a good promotion in a good niche and had not enough respect from 888 and Everest. It's sad. The funny part is that I was not asking for money or anything like that, I was asking for support and exclusive tournaments (I would give the prize).
So I will probably close a deal with another room in which contact with affiliates actually exists.

I dont like to deal with 888..very slow and they dont quite grasp things like other rooms. 3 phone calls, 1 IM chats and 6 emails to get a tournamnet set up that still wasnt done right..
What I dont understand is how smaller companies can have such a great team of affiliate managers and the program in general ie Chan, Affiliate Club, PDC and yet these major networks who I am sure see 20 or 30 x the revenue of these others can neglect the people who do send them traffic. IMO there is absolutely no excuse for these super sized poker rooms to not have the proper staff, management and affiliate team for the players and affiliates. If your AM;s can't respond to emails within a weeks time, either they are not doing their job, or you need more AM's.

Affiliate dept
I had asked for a banner with a sub affiliate link from a different company. They took weeks then finally made me a banner, but no tracking code. SO was I going to put banners up for fun? It's been months and no response still.

Good post from you both. I'm really irritated with a few of these programs as well. I email my AM about a promo I wanted to run and pay for, I ended up having to post a "where is this AM" post just to get a response after over a week. The response sucked too..

Or maybe they want to keep all affiliates they can to themselves (if they share their winnings) and not pass them to other AMs who might have more time.

I dont think they share winnings. My guess the majority of them are salery based and maybe a few are commission related or salary + bonus. But no matter how you look at it this big sites like Pokerstars, FT need more AM's. I dont expect a reply that day, but when it comes to setting up trackers I should not have to wait a couple of weeks and then hear ok I will get on this and get back to you and wait another week. Some rooms kick ass and some dont, suprisngly its the smaller ones that do....and Bodog
Curious but does anyone know how many Stars or FT AM's there are?

I would have to say that in the last few months - there is really NO PROGRAM that has responded quickly. Not a one.

Seems that the best way to get them to respond is to call them out in their PAP forum section. I waited a week for a response from Cake Poker.. I posted on PAP, got a reply an hour later.
It's really disappointing though, I thought I was a valued affiliate with Cake bringing in players every month with good value. The lack of response reminded me that my efforts are best spent pushing rooms that at least "act" like I'm important.
Beanie made a great point in his post about "answering the phone". If you can respond to an email within 24 hours then you either cannot handle your duties, or you are adopting a bad approach to growing your business.

Affiliate management
Hi All
Im here to do give a little info as to what we as affiliate managers do.
Firstly, i have always been the type to try and get emails answered the same day. This has proven to be a huge thing in keeping affiliates convinced that you are indeed there to help, whatever be the case.
I have always personally had good relationships with the partners I work with at iron duke and continue to try to better myself with the hope of making the affiliates appreciate what im doing for them and also get them promoting us more.
I am a true believer that the harder you try, the better you will be appreciated and the more successful you will become.
What does sometimes happen is that some things can either be forgotten or pushed aside due to lack of time but at the end of the day I try to have eveything up to date for the day.
When it comes to bigger companies, it seems that they either have too little staff or really dont care the same as smaller sites trying to make a success for themselves, but at the end of the day most of the time regardless of this, affiliates still continue to promote them.
The job as an affiliate manager is extremely time consuming, stressful at times but I have said before and will say again that for me its a job that I love and take extremely seriously...
At the end of the day, if the affiliate is happy, he will do his/her best to help you and in the end we will all be happy!
Best
Colin
