PM's are a great idea as is instant messenger.
I find a lot of my affiliates will send emails through indirect means, like to support rather than contact me on my direct channels. I'm pretty much online the entire time I'm awake, so there are only a few hours at night that I'm not available to my affiliates. And as my big French affiliate has found, if its urgent and its not online just send a text message.
If you create a direct contact with your Affiliate Manager you will get answered a lot quicker.
