I think this is down to the person - Some people are 99% work and arrange huge amounts of meetings chat with as many people as possible and don't often make the parties - Others oversleep, party from early afternoon to early morning and don't really do any work. I think the ideal is to be inbetween (which is kind of obvious)

Personally I would try and plan your time as much as you can before and arrange as many meetings now as time will fill up - So look at the sponsor page and contact those people you want to meet (if you don't have their details PM me) look at the schedule page and work out which sessions are of interest and finally make some time to go round the stands and meet new programs or ones that you already work with but hope to improve the relationship with.

Of course remember you there is also the parties so don't forget to take some time out and go to the networking parties because you will meet way more people there and make some genuine friends.

Oh and soon we'll announce the plan for the Sunday which will involve a bit of networking, a chance to see the city, and of course an opportunity to soak in the local food and drink.

Hope that all made sense

Next week I will have a guide prepared including maps to try to cover everything from transportation, restaurants, bars, safety, tourist destinations/events and everything else. I have lived there nearly a year and Barcelona is my second home. Willing to help answer any questions you may have about the city.

For hotels I believe the conference hotel is booked. You can find other hotels along Avinguda Diagonal or close to the hotel but I don't know how much more of a difference it will make unless you are a 5 minute walk. Otherwise there are many nice hotels all over the city and staying near Sants Estacio (hotel Barcelona Sants) many affiliates will be there which is close to Placa Espanya, also a nice area. Other nice areas are Placa Catalunya and anything along Las Ramblas. If you want a safe and relaxed area then I recommend staying in the L'Eixample area which is more residential and within walking distance to just about everything.

Either way book now since the 24th is one of Barcelona's most important festivals of the year and the city is going to be very filled. I will be around to help and will check this thread often. If you want some personal help or have questions you want to ask me directly you can post here, pm me or find me john [at velvet-vegas [dot com, same as msn or find me at skype[ thisisvegas

John

Thursday night is Mega Party night with all drinks on the house from 23:00 till late and the best DJs bringing the best music! Get your Blackjack.com chip from Canaffco staff at the shows or on the night (passphrase for chips : “I want to be a Blackjack.com Affiliate”).
