Setting up a poker league

I've never done it, and never been in out.

How do I go about this? I have a room willing to sponsor a one month league. What do you suggest for frequency of games, buy-in amounts, game type (turbo, super stack, short handed, regular?), prize pool?

And then how how do you tally the scores to determine the league winners?

I am currently running a small league with 12 or so players.

For ease I am using the following scoring system.

1st 10pts
2nd 8pts
3rd 6pts
4th 4pts
5th 2pts

Plus all who reg get 2pts each.

Ive tried a few different methods and find this by far the easiest.

I have a good league, 3 qualifier tournament, each one with added prizes plus the money. top 5 player of every qualifier qualify to a final

this final is a freeroll tournament for only 15 person

We offer a free leaderboard to manage your league if you're interested in using it (of course you can use excel as well), but this one allows you to enter points in one administration area and then display them on your own website. It's free, but there are two links that appear above the leaderboard. Check out our Poker League Leaderboard to learn more if interested.

Hi JS, I did look at that site actually and that's an excellent service and it looks very well done.

However, I'm interested collecting e-mail addresses/offering newsletter subscription during the sign up process and doing a few marketing ofmy own. I will probably try out yours to start with, but if I get heavilly involved with leagues, I'll likely end up building my own system.

And thanks to all the posters. This gives me an idea of what I'm getting into.
