Default Two Plus Two going downhill? Forcing mods to delete quality posts?

I got an email today from one of the mods at Two Plus Two basically saying that they were being forced to delete and limit quality strategy posts because it was cannibalizing their books sales:
http://www.pokerbloggs.com/poker/pok...egy-posts/410/

The person who emailed me remain anonymous and copied pic from moderator forum (screen shot).

It's not all the strategy posts, just the stickies.

Quite surprising, but I guess they have a point. Forums are incredibly helpful, and some of the posters are amazing players.

Not downhill, but a part of consistent policy. Mason has never been a "rising tide lifts all boats" kind of guy. Everyone who does anything that doesn't promote book his sales is seen as a threat.

This also reflects on 2+2's extraordinarily poor income production from their website. It's funny, if Mason knew how to run a free website at a profit, he'd be saying the opposite.

It's missing the big picture, but its their website. Also, it IS an interesting issue: how to balance income via a free website versus income via paid book sales. Other poker sites have similar issues, balancing free content versus paid. It's a tough thing to be for sure right about.

IMO 2+2 went "down hill" years ago. This is pretty sad though as it can be a good resource for players..

If it's no longer up you could try googles cache although probably already been updated depending on when this came out.

Or try the wayback machine

You'd think their affiliate offer and the fact that a lot of advertisers (and how many of them is there, a LOT) pay 5-10k a month to be there would justify it staying a quality forum.

Boooo to two plus two.

I have not been there in over 6 mos. But reading about the above replies for Mason would have to lean towards selling their books for profits or keeping a wide open forum to attract many visitors to keep their ad rev going.

In general poker is slowly going downhill from it's popular peek trend and boom from 2003, I think book sales will go down with it.

I think part of the decrease in book sales also has to do with the rise of online video training sites. Maybe he should evolve and come into the 21st century.

Those guys are stuck in 1983. Who reads "books" anyways?
