Which do you find more productive, text links on your page or banners? The reason that I ask is that I hate banners and think that the blinky images trash up a site, but don't want to totally forgo a major source of income if other people have had a lot of success with them.

So do people tend to ignore banners like I do, or do they go for them?

It depends how you use them. Banners can be very effective too. The obvious answer is *USE BOTH*.

If you use banners, choose the less flashy/blinky ones if you don't want to look cheesy. On the flipside, if you throw in one flashy/blinky one, it will probably get noticed among the other more static banners. But I agree that numerous blinky ones smell of spam.

banner farms don't work....

quality content with good text links is probably your best bet.

I was just wondering how everyone places there text links. Do you embed them into content or place something like download now links or what. I am trying to mix banners and text and was wondering the best course of action. Thanks.

I think one strategy is to include a text link next to or below a banner in order to increase its click-through rate.

Randy is right on here. When I was doing an email to my subscriber newsletter list I tried this and it increased my click through rate almost 5%
This resulted in 4 more RMP's than the previous newsletter did to the same exact people.

Good Advice

Thanks. Will try that. What type of content are you all placing in newsletters to send to people. First off how do you get people to register on your site to get newsletter in the first place? I appreciate everyones comments.

Banners work great, text links work great. The idea is to use them in a symbiotic way. If you have both in the ideal percentage on a page, I'd expect text links to have a higher ctr, but still, text links need banners (or just call them graphics) to produce their best.
