Default Possible tracking problems with IE 8

Just seeing this article about the forthcoming release of Internet Explorer 8. Could potentially cause us some problems with tracking players.

Quote:
As part of the upcoming Internet Explorer 8 release, Microsoft is incorporating 'inPrivate' - a mode that will not record visits to the user's history and will not allow sites to place cookies on the user's system

Any thoughts?

This is just an easier way for users to turn off cookies, which they can already do.

I wouldn't expect this to have a large impact.

If IE8 finally jabs the knife into the side of IE6 once and for all then I think we will all be a lot happier.

Hopefully this will put an end to the 1990s-era tracking the cardrooms use in a positive way. But much more likely it will be a disaster for affiliates, since the cardrooms don't care a bit if tracking is lost, as long as the person ends up at their site.

The writing has always been on the wall, but this is just in bigger letters. The current affiliate business model is doomed, within a few years at most.

PPP I know you have said it before but I fail to remember, how exactly do you think tracking should take place?

All the more important become bonus codes.

I didn't say. I don't know. I don't think it is possible from the RECEIVING end. You can track clicks from the sending websites, but then it all goes out into the Internet mist. Hopefully codes will be eliminated altogether and some way to track will be possible in the future, but as of now every way sucks (if you are an affiliate).
