Marketing plan - focus group help

I'm in the process of doing a marketing plan for my first site. I would like to do a focus group / survey to make sure I have a good niche and have the right group targeted.

Would it be considered spam to email random people at the local college(s) with my survey?

I thought about offering those who participate a free entry into the paradise million lol . But it seems like THAT would be spam?!?! :blink:

Need some of you veterans' insight on this one.

Yeah, pretty much spam unless they asked to receive it.

It would definitely be spam - why not put notices around the campus and offer a freeroll or something for those that participate?

Good question Boris.. I'm not sure -- I have been wondering if any of you have had problems putting flyers or ads in U.S. newpapers?

Talk to your marketing dept/class at school. They always hold focus groups for students to earn extra credit.

They might think ur crazy, but worth a try. Make sure you are prepped and know what you will ask.

Some cities have ordinances against flyers on telephone/power poles.

Flyers in general might be illegal or legal depending on your local ordinace, but flyers promting online poker would almost certainly be illegal. Flyers promoting an illegal activity will always be illegal.

What about flyers that promote learning to win at poker or something along those lines, driving traffic to your site which would have content of that nature and also affiliate links.?
