Seeing that you're using it as your primary navigation...I'd say no.

Thanks for the feedback PPP

A quick add on question: If I don't need CMS for a 22 page site, probably no more than 100 or so pages a year (I'd like to shoot for one new page a day, but I'm being realistic ) then what program/method would you recommend to update and add pages to my site if it is professionally done in php or asp as Jeremy had suggested for a professional site??

If the cost is minimal to use a CMS, what are the Pro's/cons as compared to your recommended method?

Thanks for your insight

Jason

We all have different opinions, but I wouldn't use any content management system for what you describe. Just make html pages and expand around your 22 page core. Your 22 page core should be anticipating this growth, with site subsections branching out from many of the 22 pages.

Sites with 1000+ pages like with forums have totally different needs than sites under 250 pages. What might be necessary on the huge site will just be bloat on the smaller site.

I've been hacking various Blogs into a liteweight CMS.
They make it easy to publish valid xhtml pages, automate your RSS feeds & you can automate the SEO aspects of the page.
Static pages are more work for less features & performance.

Flash is fine for eye candy, it will render your site useless for SEO if used as navigation though & Flash content cannot be indexed/spidered.
The less Flash you use the better!

Holy shit you guys paid a lot for your sites! I paid $100 for mine and everyone has told me it looks professional. Do you guys get a whole site made, or just a template. I got a template made for mine, and then just built all the pages myself.

Here it is...

Thats not entirely true. Some of the major search engines have swf spidering/indexing capabilities. Google and Yahoo are 2 that come to mind. Admitedly, its not as good as a basic webpage, but at least its there

You can also export into HTML's meta data from an swf (helpful for a flash nav with html content)

flash is definately not just eye candy!

Save your $1500, or your $6000, and design your own site. There are tons of tutorials on html on the internet, or you can buy Frontpage. Tons of tutorials on that now too.

You can better spend that money on something other than site design. The internet's fully of pretty, flashy websites with no traffic to speak of.
