For those who have put flyers or whatever at bars, I have a question.

What is your approach to the Bar owner?

And if applicable, what do you offer the bar owner to let you advertise your site/tournament?

THis would be a big help! Thanks in advance!!

Joe

The only time I advertise at bars is when they are running a tournament. I usually provide a prize (poker chips, etc.) and ask to leave a display of bonus cards, flyers, whatever. I'll also make sure I play in the tournament, cause talking to people is much better than just leaving flyers around.

I find that the owners are usually pretty agreeable when they realize they'll be able to add more prizes to pile!

Thank you.

I don't think there are bars around me that do tournaments.
The one thing I thought of was trying to attract their customers to play in an online tournament under the bar name or do a bar vs. bar thing.

I guess you could approach a bar owner into hosting a live tourney and have your own poker site be the "host" and to the prize pool. That's an idea.

Anybody else have any ideas?
Jeremy you out there?

I thought of an idea to promote a firehouse tournament. I haven't started it yet, but it's intriguing. I want to make a brochure promoting a tournament online at Poker Room and see how many fireman are interested. In California there's gotta be hundreds upon hundreds of fire departments.

I kind of expanded the idea from Jeremy's E-book.

There are regular tourneys where i live with 100 people playing on weeknights in a free tourney for no prize

I think I will buy some poker chip sets and offer them to the winners - and obviously brand the shit out of the poker set/chips and bar for the time being. Write it all in a contract and get them to sign. Remeber these tournaments increase business for the bars.
