I'd just like to mention.. I was probably one of the first to notice to try to do anything about it.
If you'll visit Google.com and type in link:
www.poker.com you should come up with 7,060 results - 90% of which look to be coming from one domain name, googlism.com
When I had first noticed these thousands of links from pointless (SPAM) directories, I checked the source code and found that not only were 90% of their 7,060 inbound links composed of sitewide links from one spammy website "which Google has recently banned from querying their search engine by the way" - but that all of those links were HIDDEN! It took me a while to figure it out, but it was being masked in most browsers by a special class="poker" variable that the programmer had created.
With all the talk about Hidden Links, Site-Wide links, and Anchor Text Spamming I've seen on SEO forums lately, I'm surprised they continue to hold second to top spot on Google for the "Poker" keyword!!
I first tried mentioning it to the google reporting center but nothing happened for a few weeks, so I then emailed the owners of Googlism.com and it was changed in a flash. It's still a sitewide link with the anchor text "Poker" but it's no longer hidden.
For what it's worth! Comments?
