Being from the UK I can definately say offline marketing has an advantage over online here. Sports betting companies here such as William Hill, Victor Chandler, Betfred, have had betting shops all over the uk since the 2nd world war. They are established busineses and already have the full trust of the consumer. All of these "bookies" (as we call them) have opened poker sites and heavily market these rooms offline. The reason you dont see them so much are because they don't have to have such big affiliate campaigns, either they don't have an affiliate programme at all or they offer less than the US orientated sites such as Party. As for TV poker, I have been following the new Poker Zone (uk) satelite channel, you can view a live feed from my site at:

for the last couple of weeks. Believe me, it gets kind of adictive lol and fun. Playing in the TV tournaments and tables is all the more exciting, cos if you reach the final 100 or so you could end up a tv star of sorts, and the fact that you can watch it back after and see what cards the other players had, makes it even better.
