I'm wondering if anyone has tried Party Poker's "Media Search Program" and had any success. It states that the affiliate who suggested the site will get either:

$200 per lead that they accept to do business with
$20 per new real money player, or
4% Gross Revenue

The 4% revenue, however, only continues while the contract between PP and the other company is still alive...if they stop doing business together, then poof!- No "lifetime" revenue for those players that signed up because of the affiliates efforts. PP will still make money off these players after a contract has ended, and we...get nothing after that point. Still, this seems tempting.

Any thoughts/experiences, anyone?

I've seen a few people mention that they've referred a certain website thru the program & received their CPA.

I can't help ya much more than that?

Its for real & they pay though!

cheers

Thanks for the response. Glad to hear people have been successful with it. I'd still like to get an MGR payment for it, though I'm nervous about not having those players "for life."

Hi Annie and welcome to PAW,

Your question has been brought up a few times on this forum and has never gotten much of a response from our members.

I've pondered the "Media Search Program" myself from time to time but I'm just too busy with building websites etcetera, like most others here, to ever find the time to give it a serious go.

Personally I think this marketing niche is wide open for big profits if you do it right.

It sounds like this type or networking and marketing appeals to you on a personal level Annie so my advise for you is to go for it. Big time.

If...... you're willing to devote all of your efforts to just this one project.

This is what I would do.

1. Research the demographics of potential online poker players. Yes, pretty much everyone these days but narrow it down to your best prospects for starters. College students? Seniors? Hip young women? Asian market?

2. Find out which websites, blogs and forums these people visit frequently.

3. Contact those websites, blogs and forums with your unique marketing proposal. Be creative. Soft sell. Clearly explain the benefits to their bottom line. Cover your ass. Think out side the proverbial box.

Figure out your best approach on your own. Don't listen to the naysayers.

You know what I mean.

Or ....you could follow the masses like a freaking lemming.

Building poker websites with poker strategy articles, poker news, writing online poker room reviews etcetera has been done to death, and back, on the net and can become very tedious and boring for the writer. Trust me.

In the one on one battle, of the self-employed, online affiliate marketing game if you are not very passionate about your work.... you will not succeed.

I think its about time someone here tackled the Media Search Program as a niche marketing strategy. It has great potential for the right type of person in my opinion. I strongly believe that could be you.

Good luck Annie and keep us up to date on your progress if you decide to follow this route.

I'm dying to hear all about your success story in the near future.

Word of advise, don't give away any of your secrets for free after you've figured out how to be successful in your niche field, they'll come back to haunt you with increased comepetion and fewer dollars in your poker.

I did it over a year ago... the first day they announced the program. I recommended a really huge site that I thought would do well . nothing happens for 4 months and then site starts to promote it.

I check with PP and they want to know what proof I had that the account was mine. ( I had none ...other than I submitted it on the pp affilate site and I got a call from PP confirming details and contact info)

Long story short they are doing over 500 real money accounts per month. I never got credit for it, but my affiliate manager thru me a $500 bone, but said another affiliate manager had the account and would not let it go.

It can work, but document document....

Thank you Dave and pokernut for those detailed responses. I'm glad this isuue is being brought to attention now. Yes I have thought of those demographic markets (I have a B.A. in Geography...it's what I know REALLY well), and I plan on taking this project on. As far as documenting is concerned however, what documents should I be keeping track of to ensure I get credited? On the Media Search Program page it sounds as if I would collect info on the site, then pass this info on to PP without making contact with the company myself (hence no emails to save in that area). Party seemed kind of vague as to whether they expect me to be making first contact with the other company or not.

Wouldn't it be better to just sign them up as sub affiliates under you?

Hey, now that sounds like a great idea! In that regard, I would contact them myself giving my soft sell pitch, and I'd like to include a link for them to follow to the affiliate sign up page. So my next question is...

Would using a link like http://www.partypartners.com/index.htm?wm=xxxxxxx (with my tracker id I normally use for player sign ups) ensure that the sub-affiliate gets tracked under me?

I wonder the same question because it is unrealistic that random people will give you their personal info so you can sign them up.
