I actually thought about writing an article about this but I figured a post in the general forums would get more reads and be more beneficial. I bring this topic up because it seems to be a pretty hot issue especially for offline marketers.
When looking at bonus codes now days for offline marketing it is pretty tricky. Most of these sites we promote already have great branding and marketing so people already know the site. If they see your business card or flier with a bonus code, will they really remember it? If you use bonus codes for online and SEO, then by all means keep it up.
I bring this up because in my personal affiliate business I am not getting the returns on bonus code trackers that I did 2 years ago.
With that said I think from a branding aspect it may be better to pick a unique url for your offline promotions versus a bonus code. If people see a unique website address that is simply forwarded to your poker affiliate url, I think you will see a better return than depending on them to remember
www.whateverpokersite.com AND a bonus code,
Even better is if on your fliers and business cards have a unique url that directs your traffic to a splash page with additional information (not the affiliate url)and continues to "sell" the visitor on why they should sign up at your room.
I am interested to hear your thoughts on this theory of using redirected url's in your advertisements and offline promotions versus bonus codes. I think there is a good arguement for both, but in the coming months I feel a redirected url could be more lucrative than a generic bonus code.
