Does everyone register their domain names privately or publicly? I was thinking about switching over to a private registration for all of my domain names but can't decide....any thoughts?

I have all my domains with privacy. When you have a lot of domains the cost adds up a bit but nevertheless I feel it's clearly worth it.

Privacy works..

But it isn't hard to get a forwarding address service.. and nobody could possibly know if you are using a fake name.

Used to be too expensive IMO, most are offering it for free lately or for like a buck. Registerfly is free now & Godaddy is $1 now I think?

Didn't it use to be way more than yearly reg fees, about $19.95 per year?
I'd pay a couple bucks a year for it.

Watch it on using fake reg info, can get ugly if ICANN finds out.

Potential downsides combine with potential upsides. I would never do the domain by proxy way of totally hiding, but others hide you contact info but show your name, which is closer to the best of both worlds.

Like Greg mentioned above at RegisterFly.com the privacy protection is now free. I have been using RegisterFly for over a year and had no issues with them.

Very good service for a budget price.

Blue Host doesn't charge at all for Privacy. They have just upgraded to 24/7 customer support and have been problem free for me and just about awesome and cheap. $6.95 per month for 1 main domain and 5 add on domains. Free domain registration too with a year or two sign up.

If anyone is interested in trying them out...let me know...I am an AFFILIATE there and we can swing a deal so that we are BOTH happy .

Cheers and good luck with any web host you choose. And if anyone knows of an good ones out there, I would be glad to check them out as I am MAXED with the number of domains I have under one account.
