http://worldpokerexchange.com went completely rake free recently. They call it a bonus, because fishies don't often think about rake or rakeback. At the end of each week they give back all the rake each player generates. Their idea that this will bring in a ton of players, and some of the poker players will migrate over to their sports book and casino, which is their biggest money maker.
For the players, this is great. I think i'm going to have to start playing their. Last year stars raked around $30,000 from me. I played a lot, but not A LOT. the savings with 100% rakeback is huge.
But for affiliates, espcially rakeback affiliates, this is obviously really bad. Once a high volume player hears he can get 100% rakeback, he'll have to seriously consider giving up his 25% rakeback deal. As a poker player, wouldn't you want 100% rake back?
Also someone on 2+2 mentioned that a large poker room is going to be cutting back on its rake within the next month. I'm not sure how true it is, but I can definitely see competition on rake fees hapening. Poker sites are reallly raping the players of $$.
So what does everyone think about this? Will it slowly get harder and harder to make money promoting poker? What's it going to be like 5-10 years from now?
