I've run into a snag with party's affiliate system. I was under the impression of something different then they just told me on the phone.

I had a friend of mine click thru my website (I forget which tracker he used) a couple of months ago. He has been a play money player until this week when he deposited money. He used my bonus code for the $25 but it doesn't show up for him. Party said this is a sign up bonus and this doesn't apply to play money players. I though the code you used on your first deposit would be honored. I guess not. I was wondering what others though?

I have some people that just play with play money, and I was in the process of seeing if they wanted to play for real with the bonus code, but I don't have an incentive now with the explanation by party.

I was wondering if someone could give a good explanation of how the bonus codes work. I don't want to misuse them and not get credit for my players.

There are two types of bonus codes.

#1. Sign-Up Bonus Code
#2. Deposit Bonus Code

The only option affiliates are given to offer to potential players are sign up bonus codes. If you sign up a player via a link on your website as opposed to a sign up bonus code, your player will be eligible for whatever bonus you have associated with that specific link. He is locked into that and it does expire. I think he has to make a real money deposit within 30 days to get that bonus.

I think what happened in your case is that your player used your sign up bonus code as opposed to a deposit bonus code when he was making his first deposit. Party Poker offers current players deposit bonus codes as an incentive for them to play more. In March, the deposit bonus code was BONUSMAR which offered 20% extra on all deposits.

richard,
Thanks. I think the sign up bonus expired because I swear he clicked through on one of my links on my website with a bonus. I didn't know what the time limit was on the sign up bonus. Yes, he used a sign up code in a deposit code section. I suppose the original bonus expired.

That clears it up somewhat. I believe he is still tracked under me so that I get my %, but it's so hard to tell with party's tracking tools.

here's another question I have about Party. I have some friends that have already signed up at party poker but only play with play money. They don't really know how to make a deposit and get it setup. Is there a way for me to help them get setup to play real money under my affiliate? I'm not sure how they initially got signed up at party, so I would assume if they went through another affiliate it wouldn't be possible. But what if they didn't go through another affiliate but just straight to party. I would think party wouldn't mind having them move to an affiliate if they started to play for real money.
