Default How many users to make a good forum?

From those of you experienced forum owners out there...how many users does it take to end up with a really active forum? At what point can you say your forum is a "successful" quality forum?

Thanks for the info...

BTW...My new forum is my Titan Poker Club Forum

Thanks for the info in advance...I really want to make sure the forum flies, so any info/advice is greatly appreciated!

Chris

The number of people / members for your forum means absolutley nothing in terms of it's success. You should judge success of a forum in terms of your members willingness to participate in the discussions on the forums, and keep coming back for more. I'd say when you have a new user, who gets up to 100 posts within his first 2 weeks of joining, you have a pretty darn successful forum.

agreed, "activity" & "participation" are the keywords.

Get those 2 started & the rest should take care of itself.

Lot easier said than done though,

Well...the standard ideas are

Controversy...start a I love bush thread

Hot News - Online Poker Ban

Opinion Based - Miami Heat are going to win the NBA Championship

these are all ok starting topics. You can get good discussions going.

However to really grow, it all matters on the theme of your forum. For Titan, your going to have to get people to say how great it is (to attract new players to sign up...obviously thats the point of this site)

If you could get a rep from Titan to post in there, that would give it great credibility.

Give stuff away. Talk to our sponsor SuperAffiliate (Scott) and buy a couple of his products to give away.

Also an idea, start a Titan Affiliate thread or forum and tell people how much money they can make (and have your sub link...)

Just a couple ideas for ya

These are all great ideas!

Have already had someone famous post (The NOTORIOUS Pink Bunny/Donkey)!

Like the Bush thread idea!

Hesitant to do the sub-affiliate thing, as right now most members of the forum have signed up through me at Titan!

LOL

There's no set number for sure - if only it was that easy. Don't think that once you get X number of good members it's all easy from there. If there isn't a constant stream of fresh blood people will get bored and there will be nobody to replace the people who will inevitabley leave at some point.

The bottom line for me would be revenue. I would rather have 200 members that play high limits than 1000 freerollers.
