New Sites Keep Coming?

It seems like new poker rooms just keep coming out and I can't even really think of one besides Titan Poker that actually succeeded.

Do you think people will continue to put their money into trying to build new poker rooms?

I have a friend who recently bought a skin of Doyles Room. He said it was a $1million dollar investment and to tell you the truth....I dont think he has a chance in hell.

Even sites with endless marketing capital seem to be failing. Today it's almost like people go where the most players are and don't necessarily look at the other things. At least that's what I look for in a site. If their aren't constantly running Sit and Go's or multi-tables I wont even bother.

To truly be able to grab market share, you are going to need a combination of everything. Capital, marketing, and some sort of new idea that will catch attention (in a good way, not design your site around freerolls)

I think the newest site that has a great chance is Mansion, except they are starting all wrong by not utilizing their affiliate program. Its amazing how big you can get if you have some truly great affiliates behind you. Its marketing that you get paid for...we all know this so I won't digress.

So many small skin sites pop up thinking they will hit it big, they think they have the idea to make it big. They won't. No skin will every be as big...pokershare...as those they skin off of.

the ship of starting up a skin has sailed, at least for the average joe, or the guy with a pocket full of money wanting to invest in something...

Why compete against the million dollar marketing budgets, vast affiliate networks, and the business foundation of the rooms that are already established.

Personally, I think you could take the investment it would have cost to get your own skin and use that to build an affiliate business sending traffic to these sites... you would probably see much more ROI.

On that note, I do think that Mansion Poker has a decent shot, they are already a top notch casino and can compete... plus they've got a TV show.

an old friend of mine started up a skin about 6 months ago... i honestly don't know how they are doing, but the site is still up and i think they are still in business, but i know he isn't making the big bucks... anyways, good thread.
