Default poker sites closing down US player accounts ????

hi all

this came up on my forum from a member in canada saying some of his US friends had got "stiffed" with poker sites closing their accounts due to the new / pending legislation / sportsbook arrest etc

I replied that this seemed like nonsense to me and asked for further clarification - thinking this couldnt be the case and suggested that some site dont accept US account (not a new thing) and this wasnt the same as he was suggesting -

but he has come back saying this is definately the case and mentioned -

wass poker
red lounge
24hpoker network there are about 20 sites they run? all stopped american accounts
poker4ever has closed existing player accounts !!
pokerchamps
betfred wont set up new accounts not sure on how they handleing exsisting

I am amazed this hasnt been brought up by anyone afaics on the PAW forum ?? maybe I've been snoozing and missed it

but this seems like a major development as a result of the sportsbook arrest

what is the actual score on this - and how come there isnt more discussion on PAW if these sites have infact closed US players accounts - in effect losing the players money

cheers for any carification

scrawnybob / Rob

Some sites have decided to no longer have American players. No big deal in that, although whiners will whine about anything.

Default US players

yep no problem with that - it's up to the site

but the impression I got from the member on my forum was that players had lost all their money as a result

some of them alot

which does to me seem far from fair

I'd just like to know for info if this is the case of it they did what seems like the decent thing and just paid out the balances on the day and said thanks and goodbye ??

if they just pullled the accounts then that seems like they did get screwed over and is hardly a glowing endorsement for the sites concerned and the business as a whole

cheers scrawnybob

I have heard of plenty of sites not accepting American players anymore, but none that have withheld monies owed or confiscated funds.

I'd want to hear it right from a player or actually have some proof to believe that. Considering no laws have actually been passed yet, that would be pretty shady.

There are a lot of "sites" out there so I wouldn't want to say anything generally, but its just nonsense at this point to pretend any players have lost funds, if only because what site still taking non-US customers would have any customers in two days if they just took money from US customers. Let's leave the trolls to themselves.

scrwanybob could you post a link to the thread where your member said these things? Seems a bit odd that a pokerrroom would hold funds simply because they are a US player and I wonder why I havn't read about it yet. Thanks.

Why not turn things like this into a positive? For example think of all the new keywords we can target now , "American only poker rooms" , "Allow US poker", etc. just to name a couple .

Default poker sites closing US accounts ???

hi jeremy & all

yes this was what I had gathered was the case - maybe not accepting new US players or not accepting them - but I was sceptical about these suggestions which is why I posted here asap to find out what you guys in the know knew - the original poster has put up a list of the sites he is referring to / thinks he knows but I am more interested in getting pukka info

the not accepting new players makes sense - the suggestion of closing accounts just doesnt seem to - and I want to know before I say that it cant be true etc

this is the thread

http://www.4kingpoker.com/showthread.php?t=940

cheers scrawnybob

ps ... Im not interested in the value of links etc - I just want to get it straightened out so they know what the score is - otherwise all this bill nonsense and sportsbook arrest etc - I heard / she heard stuff is going to end up like the damn random generator bolox but be a far more damaging urban myth if that is the case

Default sites closing US accounts ??

hi all

ok so given the lack of response to this thread - I was guessing that I had some muppet on the forum panicing / inventing worst case situations / wrongly thinking US accounts were getting closed and players stiffed for their cash - I was about to post to this effect on my forum and tell him to quit panicing everyone (players are going to be easily spooked) until I looked around the net a bit more on the specific sites he had named

maybe this is an elaborate hoax / urban myth out of control but what am I sposed to make of all these ?

http://pokerchaos.blogspot.com/

http://forums.cardplayer.com/forums/...2310e2e51f8181

I want to re-assure my forum and be able to quote correctly the situation but I'm still amazed everyone here seems not to be commenting - this is a forum for affiliates shouldn't we be aware or what maybe / is / isnt going on ??

I just dont want to tell them all " it isnt happening la la la he has got it wrong" when it seems he might actually be right

has anyone got a list of the sites and their announcement as some seem to say they will honour the balances - some seem to have had a 24hr withdrawl period (when the sites didnt work) and others dont seem to know what they are doing

cheers scrawnybob

If you've been promoting these rooms, why not just contact your affiliate manager and ask wtf is up?

Honestly scrawnybob, you seem intent on spreading nonsense around as if there was something to talk about. Some sites have decided to no longer allow US players. Okay... so what?
