Default Poker Players Not yet affected

Well, the number of poker players on most sites doesn't seem to be affected yet.

Just checked Poker Stars and over 103,000 players currently online.

Full Tilt showed just over 23,000.

It will be quite interesting to check in a week or so and all of a sudden see Poker Stars with 15,000 players currently online.

I bet a lot of players still have no clue as to what happened.

I think a lot will be trying to get as many games in as possible whilst they still can.

Weird. A bunch of my "normal" poker player friends were all in a panic. These are guys that play about 10-12 hours a week and are generally 1/2 NL and 2/4 NL type guys... don't really ready any poker news, etc. Anyways, they all heard from "friends" and "table talk" that if they didn't cash out in the next 24 hours their funds were going to be seized, etc. And these guys were not even American, nor are they overly guillable people generally. I'm glad to see the numbers are still strong!

Default player perception - my biggest fear

hi

I agree with clark - my biggest fear is player & forum member perception

even on PAW there have been a couple of "get your money out the earth is now flat posts"
they may turn out to be true - but its not very responsible - most sites are NOT going to run off with peoples cash - this is the no1 fear & it is the no1 fear for a new signup in normal conditions.

I think the big sites maybe being clever pulling out now and some / all of the other sites releasing statements to effect of definatly staying / watch and wait are too

IMHO it all comes down to perception - if a poker site releases a statement however on the fence it is - we have something concrete to reassure the market / players with

without them the players / market runs around like idiots panicing themsleves and others

It's our responsibility and in our own interests to all report as much hard fact and statements (even the party type news) to firm up and reassure the players

The last thing we want is players being in control of what they think is going on - that will be a disaster

I think sites like bodog / poker.com will pick up players just because they have taken a clear position

pokerstars / tilt / pokerroom etc will keep them because they've said whatever happens your money is safe - thats all the players want to hear IMHO

party & pacific I think are trying to get people of their asses to react and also covering their corporate backs

but I really feel sorry for the big aff of party - If they stiff you guys and go back in the US in a year they will have stiffed you for you players - that really would be harsh

I just wish more sites were up together and got statements out now however "business as usual for the time being" they are
the key is they need to say "we wont stiff the players for their cash"

cheers scrawnybob
