Digg Us....on the homepage of Digg

Kyle and I made it to the homepage of Digg today and actually even better we are #2 in the top 10 of all stories.

I'll give a full report later on what our traffic stats were for this accomplishment and what it means in dollars and cents. I can tell you though we have already went over 20K uniques just this afternoon.

Anyhow, Happy New Year to everyone. 2007 is going to be a very exciting year.

Honestly, that idea was pure genius, and you get major props for thinking of it. Absolutely brilliant. Those backlinks will make that site into an absolute monster..

I really don't want to share all our trade secrets quite yet, but I will say that the site was launched on December 9th, and on the day we hit the homepages of Digg and del.icio.us we went over 50K uniques. Before this we were doing around 5k - 6k uniques per day. However that exposure has harnessed us literally hundreds of new backlinks on high PR blogs and websites with our targeted anchor text. In fact it has actually been a viral dream come true as literally every minute someone is posting their book cover on a website, forum, or blog somewhere.

The fruit of all this has not even been close to realized yet in terms of SEO, but I assure you when it is, Kyle and I will be toasting in Las Vegas with some expensive liquor.

We already have great penetration in the SE's and these massive high quality links have really not played a role yet as they are so new. I don't forsee a day anytime in the near future where we will be under 20K uniques. In fact our Alexa ranking today was around 4000.

How do you get such relevant Google AdSense ads to appear on your pages?

I'm new to AdSense and I tried to make my content very specific and the AdSense ads just don't match very well. I also checked it out for other countries with the Preview Tool and it's the same thing.

Is there a trick to this?

big respect on that traffic and idea - what amazes me is I remember seeing the dummy cover thing at least 18mnths ago on a couple of other sites - think it was a shareware tool or something

Massive respect to you guys for turning water into wine - just goes to show what someone who knows what they're doing can do with something so simple and (no offence) something that had been available before - that is real genius utilising something so simple - yet so effectively - I'm totally in awe
